The lineup is changing for 2017. The R/T is being replaced by GT as the top trim level model. The GT features a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with precise steering and high performance suspension. Under the Journey's Hood
The base engine in the Journey is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with a four-speed automatic transmission. It is rated at 166 pound-feet of torque and 173 horsepower. It uses front-wheel drive. The fuel economy is 21 mpg combined with 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. An optional engine for all the trims, but standard on the GT is a 3.6-liter V6. It is powered by 260 pound-feet of torque and 283 horsepower. It uses a six-speed automatic. It comes with all-wheel drive, but the GT has the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The front-wheel drive has a fuel economy of 19 mpg combined with 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive has a fuel economy of 19 mpg combined and 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
Design of Dodge Journey
The Journey comes in five different trim levels: SE, SXT, Crossroad, Crossroad Plus, and GT. It is available with five or seven passenger configurations. The base model, SE, comes with roof rails, heated mirrors, cruise control, dual-zone manual climate control, a sliding and reclining second-row seat, keyless ignition and entry, a six-speaker sound system, and a 4.3-inch touchscreen. The SXT trim gets foglights, LED taillights, a unique front fascia, body-colored exterior mirrors, and the Flexible Seating package that includes a 50/50-split third row and tri-zone manual climate control. The Crossroad includes gloss black and chrome features, a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, 19-inch wheels, and Bluetooth. The Crossroad Plus adds tri-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, LED interior lighting, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, an in-dash DVD player, a six-way power driver seat, and a fold-flat front passenger seat with hidden storage bin. The GT gets a remote start, a sport-tuned suspension, automatic headlights, a premium audio system, and heated front seats and steering wheel.

Every Journey comes with the following standard features: traction and stability control, seven advanced airbags, active front head restraints, a protective frame, and anti-lock disc brakes.
