2018 Jeep Renegade Dashboard Symbol Guide

The Jeep Renegade may be a rough-and-tumble SUV that’s up for any challenge, but even the toughest of cars need a little help sometimes while you’re driving around the Delmont, Jeannette, and Greensburg areas.

When this happens, it’s important to know what your car is trying to tell you, so Hillview Motors has put together this 2018 Jeep Renegade dashboard symbol guide, where we’ll discuss some of the most common dashboard symbols.

Jeep Renegade Dashboard Symbols to Know

Engine Check/Malfunction Indicator Warning Light (MIL): If you see this yellow image of an engine, there could be several issues. If it stays lit through several typical driving cycles, make an appointment with your local Jeep service center for a professional diagnosis. If the light is blinking, there could be a serious condition present that may lead to immediate loss of power or catalytic converter damage. Pull over as soon as possible and contact a technician.

Oil Pressure Warning Light: The red image of an oil can indicates that there’s low engine oil pressure. Pull over as soon as it’s safe, turn off the engine, and contact a local Jeep technician. Do not continue driving while this is lit, as doing so could lead to overheating and irreparable engine damage.

Battery Charge Warning Light: This is a red light that looks like a battery. If it’s lit, it means that the battery isn’t charging properly and there may be a malfunction with the charging system, electrical system, or related component. Contact a certified technician as soon as possible.

Seat Belt Reminder Warning Light: This red light looks like a person wearing a seatbelt. It means that the driver or passenger does not have their seatbelt buckled while the car is in drive. This light will continuously flash and emit a chime until everyone in the front seat is safely strapped in.

Engine Temperature Warning Light: If you see a red image of a thermometer being dipped in liquid, it means your engine may be overheated. This will also emit a single chime. Pull over as soon as it’s safe and shift your transmission into “neutral” until the temperature returns to normal. If the situation persists, contact our local Jeep dealership as soon as possible.

Oil Temperature Warning Light: A red light that looks like a thermometer being dipped in an oil can means that your engine oil temperature may be high. Stop the vehicle as soon as it’s safe to do so and shut off the engine. Wait for the oil temperature to return to normal before driving again.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Warning Light: If you see a yellow exclamation mark surrounded by half-circles, your tire pressure may be low, or your tires may be slowly losing air. Fill your tires to the recommended PSI as soon as possible. After filling your tires and driving a mile or two, this light should turn off. If it doesn’t, make a service appointment as soon as possible, because you may need a new set of tires.
